Do the Green Thing
We've recently teamed up with Green Thing, who suggest a number of things you can do - and enjoy doing - to make your environment greener (and reduce your carbon footprint).
We want you to make a short film incorporating one or more of the seven Green Things listed here. Not only can you then enter your film into the BOOM! Awards, but it could also be used by Green Thing on their website - to show others how easy it can be to be green.
You can get from A to B without any C when you 'Walk The Walk'. Or cycle. Or skateboard.
It causes more CO2 than cars so go 'Easy On The Meat'.
Resist the urge to buy the latest and 'Stick With What You Got'. Retro is the new cool.
Turn down the central heating and turn up the 'Human Heat'. Put on an extra layer - or put on the person you love.
Use every last scrap of paper, use a pen until the ink runs dry and squeeze the last of the toothpaste out of the tube: 'All-Consuming'.
'Stay Grounded'. Try holidaying in your own country or your own city.
7. Don't leave that charger or console on when you're not using it, 'Plug Out'.
To check out examples of Green Thing videos, podcasts and other things go to www.dothegreenthing.com - and do your bit for the environment!
Rewrite The Future
Rewrite The Future is Save The Children's first global campaign in their 90 year history and is focused on securing a quality education for the millions of children worldwide who miss out on schooling due to war and armed conflict.
As a key part of the campaign, Save The Children is looking to 'wake up the world' to this all-too-widespread and urgent issue - and that's where the charity needs the help of BOOM! film-makers in calling for change. So why not make a direct difference by making a film that can help raise greater awareness of this issue and ultimately inspire, provoke and motivate people and governments to do more. Perhaps you could make a film about your own school or college and the possible differences between your own education and that of someone living in a country blighted by war and conflict. BOOM! and Save The Children look forward to seeing your films.

Say Yes to Safe Sex
Since 2007, MTV and The Body Shop have partnered to raise money for The Staying Alive Foundation, a global, grant-making and advocacy organisation that encourages and enables young people who are involved in HIV and AIDS awareness, education and prevention campaigns.
We want everyone to 'Say Yes to Safe Sex'. We aim to educate, energise and empower young people on sexual health issues, including contraception, and believe in encouraging young people to talk about sex and sexual health.
We would love for you to submit a short film about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and issues surrounding sexual health.
Here are some questions for you to consider:
- How would you raise awareness of safe sex with your friends?
- How would you encourage people to talk about sexual health issues and to educate people on the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS?
- One night stands are no big deal?
- Is it easier than ever to have casual sex if you want it?
- Are young people nowadays more promiscuous than ever?
- Using contraception, and why young people don't - who is responsible to carry/buy protection?
- Are young people pressured into having unprotected sex?
- How aware are young people of HIV, AIDS and other STDs?
- What would you do if you thought you had an STD?
